ChristopherWho is Christopher Harrison?

Christopher came into a deep faith in Jesus as a child, having been raised in a Methodist Manse and devoted family. A set of encounters with God led to significant commitment to Jesus as his Friend and Leader. This developed into a call to lead God's people, preach the good news and then to ordination to the Word and Sacrament. Christopher was born in Natal, from a long line of ministers. His spiritual gifts include the apostolic, evangelist and teaching gifts. Through naturally shy and introverted, he knows that God can do amazing things despite us.

Christopher went to Rosebank Bible College for a year, and then to Rhodes University, Grahamstown, where studied theology with Honours in practical theology. He more recently received his Masters in Missional theology through the University of Pretoria.

Christopher and Leigh Harrison have been married for almost 30 years. Leigh runs her own training consultancy, Belvue Consulting. They have two adult daughters both in the music industry.

We love South Africa and her wonderful people and see so much potential for God’s Kingdom to come and bless all who live here.

WHERE HAS HE SERVED
  • Christopher has served in the Methodist family for 32 years, in a variety of contexts, but mostly in senior leadership of congregations in Benoni, Centurion and Bryanston.
  • The call to the ordained ministry is rooted in his mission statement: “I exist to explore the love and mystery of God, to experience this in my marriage and family life, and express this in helping churches to grow.”
  • Christopher’s walk with Jesus has lead him into pioneer ministry. This has included assisting the Walks to Emmaus being established throughout Southern Africa, developing Alpha in local churches in Gauteng and been involved in planting eleven churches through the years in very different places and with a variety of methods.
